The numbers in Southern California are astonishing. About 1 in 4 students in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties do not complete high school. In Orange County, it’s about 1 in 5. That’s too many of our young people not getting the education they need. And it’s a situation that costs all of us.

Studies clearly show that those without a high school diploma face financial instability and lack of economic mobility. This often leads to lower earnings, higher unemployment rates, poorer health and less happiness in adulthood and life.

Our communities suffer, too. Fewer high school graduates significantly affect the Southland’s competitiveness. And they dramatically reduce opportunities to enhance the quality of life opportunities we all want for ourselves and each other.

You can make a meaningful difference that elevates and transforms lives.

When you support the American Career College Educational Foundation and HSE Academies, you are helping in-need community members achieve a High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate they may otherwise never earn. You are also enabling opportunities to pursue higher education that can change lives forever.

Our HSE Academies program is based on a proven approach that has been successfully preparing students for their HSE exam for more than 15 years. This program has helped thousands in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties prepare for, take and pass this life-altering test – their gateway to higher education, a better job and so much more. For example, hundreds have continued on to attend American Career College.

The American Career College Educational Foundation and HSE Academies' program is unique. First, we offer our entire program at absolutely no cost to students. We also employ full-time instructors at four locations throughout the three counties. This enables hundreds – and soon thousands – of students to conveniently attend our daily in-person classes. Classes are held for two hours each day, five days a week. Additional tutoring is available – again at no cost to the student. Our typical student attends between 40 to 55 days in class to prepare for the test, so their serious commitment is required.

We invite you to come help us as we work to expand our HSE Academies programming and scholarship support. Together we can help even more of our fellow community members achieve their educational and career goals so they may live happier, more fulfilled lives.
